Thoughts from another

I wanted to share with everyone the thoughts a girlfriend of mine has about our new democratic leadership. I think it is well said and I wish the whole world could read it. For now, hopefully my 3 readers will enjoy it ;) I'll copy and paste it below, but if you'd like to visit her blog you can view it here: http://thecrowellfamily.com/ She's a courageous woman of God whom I admire.

I've already been on my knees this morning in prayer for our country. I am full of fear and anxiety of what is to come. I know that God does not give me the spirit of fear, but I can't help but wonder where we will go as a nation with views such as our new president. I asked the Lord to give me peace to know that His plan will prevail over all others. I asked Him to keep His hand on America; to protect us and keep us safe even though we are a sinful nation. All the godly morals and values our country was founded on are all but gone out the window.. I just pray that God has mercy on us.

Anyhow, read below and pass along if you like. If you don't like, or are offended by this, please don't comment because it will do you no good.

In prayer for our country,
Rachel
A Opportunistic Time..
Well, it’s official. We are now a Democrat-led nation. Heaven help us, and I mean that literally. Today is the start of a new era. Where the majority of our leaders believe a baby can be killed in the womb, two men or two women can marry, to succeed in business means to lose more of your money to the government so lazy people can profit from your hard work, that true Christianity is equal to terrorism, and socialism (whether it be in business, civil services or healthcare) is the word of the day.
I read that Europe and the Middle East are rejoicing. I bet. We are becoming more like the dark, souless, overtaxed, miserable, secular culture of Europe with every new generation. Pretty soon our middle class will be in as bad shape as theirs is, and then maybe we can mindlessly blame some random European country for all our troubles, like they seem to have perfected blaming us all these years. (unless they need our resources or money, that is.)
And middle easterners..well, let’s just say we’ve now got a big, red target on our backs. And only a socialist, baby-killing, Israel-hating “let’s talk it out over a campfire singing kumbaya with the Iranians” president to stand in their way.
Yeah, it’s a scary time. And one I really, really don’t want to raise my children in. But you know what? God is still on His throne. And when it gets down to it, for some reason He’s decided in His infinite wisdom to let these people rule my government. Maybe it’s because the gospel has grown stagnet due to the apathy of American christians spoiled by a great economy, freedom of religion, and the ability to basically say and do what we want when it comes to the spreading of the Word. (so we haven’t) Maybe persecution has to happen (and make no mistake that given the chance, there WILL be laws and bills brought forth that will attempt to take away freedoms we have enjoyed up til now) like in China, for believers to find our inner fire restored, and for revival to break out again. Or maybe we are just seeing the fulfillment of the scriptures in the setting up of a socialistic one-world government where the embodiment of Satan and his false prophet will be able to flourish.
What?! Think I’m going overboard? Talking like one of those armageddon crazies on the sidewalk? If you believe that the Scripture is God’s written word to man, then you have to believe it is inerrant and therefore, what it says will happen, WILL happen. Read Matthew Chapters 24-25, 2 Corinthians 11:12-15, Revelation Chapter 17-21, and on and on.
Yep, it can be scary to think this could be the beginning of the end of the world as we know it. But it can also be an exciting, thrilling time to be a believer. A time to get on our knees and pray for guidance and wisdom. To begin to see the possibilities of reaching our lost neighbors, family members, friends, etc. in a whole new way. To grow more intimate with our Savior as we prepare for what might occur and to worship His majesty and sovereign grace even more.
For when all is said and done, no matter the president and what earthly power may hold sway, I know who has won the ultimate battle and in whose arms I will live my eternal life.

Rachel, you know I love you and I certainly love our Lord and Savior. I also appreciate the opinions of others; however, we can't vote based on party affiliation. Just as God placed Bush in office at an appointed time, our new leader is also in place for a purpose. Whether or not we completely agree with his politics or his views the fact of the matter is he is there.

The results of this election is definitely not something to fear because in the end, this world, this country is in God's hands.

I carefully weighed every bit of information available and formed my opinion based on the stances each candidate took on every issue. I have to say, I really looked at things in a new light. Things are not always black and white. Life happens and people make choices. In the end, they must answer for what they did, not us. You can only vote your values and beliefs based on the candidate information given. Stop looking at party lines and look at hard lines. You will stand in judgement for your actions and not for those who voted another way.

I love you!!!

Hey Tara,

If it's one thing I love about being an American it's some good 'ol fashion debating!

Believe me when I say that I voted based on the values of each candidate. I wrote that I felt that God did appoint him into office for a specific purpose. I do not feel as though I voted based on "black and white views." I voted my faith. And the democrats as a whole, go against my faith 100%. I feel at peace with my choice. I have no regrets.

I appreciate and respect your views. Feel free to share them anytime. Love you too!

Hey Rachel
Mandy here. Wow, I am humbled you would think enough of my blog to post it on yours! I've never had anyone do that before! I am very blessed to know you as well and I agree with you 100% that no matter how charismatic the person, or how "historic" it would be if they won, we as Christians must vote our faith and our faith first. And there ARE things in our faith that ARE black and white. Absolutes like the sancitity of marrige, the killing of the unborn, etc.
I feel bad that apparently many christians let their fear of what may happen to their pocketbook override their spiritual convictions when it comes to these life and death matters.

However,I DO agree with Tara that we can't look to just party lines when voting. And that the leadership that is in place now is there because God wants them there for whatever purpose He has ordained.

Therefore, have no fear Rachel. There is no place this country is heading that God has not forseen and prepared His people for. Stay strong in your faith and in depending on Him alone!
